L.V. Beethoven:
Sonata opus 57 'Appassionata'
3rd movement (Video Clip): Play
This is Beethoven's most powerful expression of rage and fury.

J Brahms:
intermezzo op.118\2: (Video Clip): Play
This is a personal favorite of mine. Written near the end of Brahms's life, it is  rightly considered to be one of the most beautiful pieces in the repertoire.

intermezzo op.118\6: (Video Clip): Play
As for this intermezzo, the last of the opus 118, it can easily be said to be one of the darkest pieces ever written for the instrument. A powerful expression of utter despair and hopelessness.

R. Schumann:
Fantasy op 17 1st movement
part 1(Video Clip): Play
part 2(Video Clip): Play
Written in 1836, this piece, considered to be one of  the greatest masterpieces of the Romantic  genre, is the composer's cry of anguish over being forcibly separated from  his one true love, Clara.

S. Rachmaninoff:

Prelude opus 32 no 10 (Video Clip): Play

2-A few years ago I was in Washington DC visiting my parents during the annual 4th of July celebrations. These intense demonstrations of patriotism inspired me to write a piano transcription of the Star Spangled Banner ( reminiscent the Horowitz-Sousa Stars and Stripes Forever transcription). Being a very lazy person, I never had the time or energy to write out the notes on paper. At least, now I have this little "souvenir" on video…

The Star Spangled Banner (Video Clip): Play

3-Of course, being patriotic myself I quickly followed this up with a rendition of our own national anthem O Canada

O Canada (Video Clip): Play
